I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who enjoyed The Wolf Among Us and vice versa.

On a fine note I'd like to add that over the months I have been playing this series, I also started reading the Fables comic series by Bill Willingham. Hopefully this will not be the last we see of Bigby Wolf, Snow White and the rest of Fabletown This ending had everything I wanted from a finale and kept me wanting more. It may not have the same emotional punch as that series but the story is so much more intriguing and engrossing. Its combination of fantastical characters and mixture of genres complements the excellent writing to raise the whole series above Telltales other crown jewel, The Walking Dead. The ending also has a nice dash of ambiguity to leave players thinking back on previous episodes and inviting you to replay the whole series again.įor me The Wolf Among Us has been an amazing ride. However aside from that this final episode is a hugely satisfying conclusion to an overall fantastic series. If I had one criticism it would be that some of the villains just disappear after the opening scene and that Snow White has very little screen time considering how important she has been up to this point. Most characters get a part to play, though some much less than others. There is also another welcome dose of horror and one of the scariest character designs seen in the whole series.Īll this culminates in a tense ending that wraps up the plot as perfectly as one could hope for. These scenes once again are successful at giving you a feel for the power of Bigby's animalistic side. There's an edge of your seat car chase and the closest thing a point and click game can get to a boss fight, which is probably the best action scene Telltale have done. From the early proceedings things get violent and you'll need your wits about to you to make some of the quick time events. The action is also of a higher calibre in this episode. I could also see some choices that could carry forward into another series, should we be lucky enough to get one. By the end of this chapter every player will have a Bigby Wolf that will be unique to them, whether you went light, dark or added shades of grey. There were some scenes in this episode that I thought were going my way only for a decision I had forgotten about 3 episodes ago come back to derail me. You will also get to see some really old choices come back to either bite you in your ass or save it. The choices come fast and their consequences almost immediate, with a number of branching paths here that can result in wildly different outcomes. Some characters get unexpected layers added to them for this late in the story and the Crooked Man is developed as an imposing and memorable villain for someone introduced so late in the plot.
Not only are most questions answered by the end of the episode but there is also a surprising amount of character development. Revelations and confrontations come fast in Cry Wolf but the pacing is handled perfectly with not a single scene going to waste and the storytelling keeping you hooked the whole way.
However events prove anything but simple and things escalate quickly.įrom the get go the finale hits the ground running and barely lets up, making up for the previously slow episode.
Bigby wastes no time in laying down the law, confronting the man who is seemingly responsible for all the murder and corruption in Fabletown. We pick up right at the end of In Sheep's Clothing, with Bigby having finally located the hideout of the Crooked Man and his many cronies that you have had run ins with throughout the season.
